Venous Thromboembolism and Cancer

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 1st edition of “Venous Thromboembolism and Cancer”, to be held in the Instituto Português de Oncologia do Porto (IPO Porto), on March 9th 2018.

Cancer and thrombosis is an association known for more than a century. In the last years this field of research has exploded, generating an increasing and relevant amount of scientific data. The need to improve the communication and dissemination of basic and clinical research, in order to better understand the pathophysiology, prevention and treatment of venous thrombosis in cancer patients, motivated physicians and researcher from IPO Porto to organize a meeting focusing the recent advances in this issues. In this 1st edition it will discussed the biomarkers for prediction of venous thromboembolism in cancer, the thromboprophylaxis in cancer patients, the treatment of VTE and risk of recurrence, among other topics.
